Doug & Brittany | Tacoma, WA Anniversary Session

Doug&Brittany

Anniversary sessions are some of my all-time favorites to shoot and my love of them grows even stronger when I get to photograph those milestones for dear friends of mine.  Cue Doug and Brittany.  It just so happens that I was recently re-reading a letter that I had written to James almost 2 years ago when he was deployed.  It made me smile as I described my initial reaction upon meeting Brittany at a Battalion coffee- aka get together. The terms sweet and fun were included as well as a desire to get to know her better, but also a disappointment that I may not get to since she had just recently secured a 45+ hour job at the time.  Oh what two years can do!

While James and Doug were working together 15 minutes away or deployed together and were thousands of miles apart; Brittany and I enjoyed walks, talks, job changes, dinner-dates, military meet ups, tears, and laughter. From behind, Brittany and I were often mistaken for each other by our friends and consequently it wasn’t uncommon for either of us to answer to the other’s name ha ha. Meanwhile, on the guys side, we laughed as James continued to follow Doug’s career trail into whatever position he previously had.

So it truly was a pleasure when James and I got to spend the evening with these two capturing the beautiful friendship and love they have for each other. We started at Stadium High School in Tacoma with it’s beautiful architecture, and then ended our evening out on a Tacoma pier with the most beautiful evening lighting! Brittany’s smile was infectious all night and Doug’s attention to her was so endearing. I love the laughter and playfulness in their images as well as their AH-mazing model status poses.  Doug and Brittany are a powerhouse couple and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them. After we all set off to different duty stations here soon, I hope that one day we will all be blessed to be together again!

Love you, guys!
